Blizzard Entertainment has revealed the details for Diablo 4’s upcoming Season 14, titled “Season of Death Awakening.” Launching on June 30 via patch 3.1.0, this update aims to address player feedback from the previous season while introducing significant changes to endgame gear progression and competitive play.
The most discussed change involves how players acquire top-tier equipment, alongside new seasonal activities and quality-of-life improvements. Here is a breakdown of what is coming to Sanctuary.
#1 Mythic Uniques 3.0: Deterministic Crafting
The biggest mechanical shift in Season 14 is the overhaul of Mythic Uniques. Previously a strict item rarity, “Mythic” is now a modifiable quality that can be applied to any Unique item you already own. You can convert standard Uniques into Mythic versions using the Horadric Cube or through Rune Crafting with the Jeweler.
Based on feedback from the Public Test Realm (PTR), the crafting process is now deterministic. If you input a specific piece of gear, such as Unique boots, you are guaranteed to receive Mythic Unique boots in return. These crafted items see their Unique powers increased by 30%, and any affixes added via Enchanting, Transfiguration, or Tempering will roll at maximum values.
There is a limit of one crafted Mythic Unique equipped at a time, though naturally dropped Mythic Uniques have no equip limit. To preserve item identity, all Uniques will retain two guaranteed affixes regardless of the upgrade process.
#2 Pandemonium Ruptures and The Risen
Season 14 introduces “Pandemonium Ruptures,” events that spawn across the overworld and Helltides. These are essentially an evolved version of the Realmwalker activity from Season 13. By defeating guardians within these rifts, you keep them open longer to earn better rewards.
Defeating a Realmwalker grants access to a Deathtoll Chamber, a mini-dungeon that serves as the primary source for Superior Lair Keys. These keys are required to unlock the hoards of the new seasonal Lair Boss. Additionally, a new monster family called “The Risen” has been added. Players must destroy Orbs dropped by these enemies to prevent the Exarch from executing powerful attacks.
#3 Tower Leaderboards and Solo Self-Found
The Tower of Silence and global leaderboards are graduating from beta status in this season. Blizzard is also introducing a permanent Solo Self-Found (SSF) character state for the duration of the season. In SSF mode, you cannot trade items or join parties, but you gain access to exclusive leaderboard categories designed to test individual skill without group assistance.
Players will earn weekly rewards based on their Tower performance. High-ranking players will receive cosmetic Halos and prestige titles. At the start of the next season, players will be granted an Emblem reflecting their highest rank achieved during Season 14.
#4 Quality of Life and Overwatch Cosmetics
Several quality-of-life updates aim to streamline endgame play. Party War Plan boards are now synced, allowing groups to coordinate activities more effectively. The Obol cap has been increased to 25,000, reducing the need to return to town frequently, and the Gold cap has been raised to 999,999,999,999.
A new Diablo 4 x Overwatch collaboration begins on June 30. Players can earn themed cosmetics, including a Kiriko Fox Pet, by collecting currency from Elite and Champion monsters. The seasonal rewards track also offers up to 12 Skill Points, 42 Paragon points, and 7 Resplendent Sparks.
If you want to jump into the season immediately upon launch, patch 3.1.0 will be available for pre-download on June 25 at 10:00 a.m. PDT on Battle.net, Xbox, and PlayStation. For detailed class balance changes, refer to the official patch notes.
