Xbox and Halo Studios have officially published the system requirements for Halo: Campaign Evolved on PC. The Unreal Engine 5-powered remake of the 2001 classic launches on July 28, with a Premium Edition early access window starting July 23. Before you preorder or clear space on your drive, here is exactly what hardware you need to run it.

The developers have broken down the requirements into four tiers: Low (1080p), Medium (1440p), High/Recommended (4K), and Ultra (4K). All tiers target a steady 60 FPS. Here is how your hardware stacks up:

  • CPU: Minimum requires an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7-10700K. For High settings, you’ll need an AMD Ryzen 7 7700 or Intel Core i7-12700K. Ultra demands a Ryzen 9 7900X or Core i9-13900K.
  • GPU: Minimum is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super, AMD Radeon RX 6600, or Intel ARC A580. High settings require an RTX 3080 Ti or Radeon RX 9070. Ultra is locked to the RTX 4080.
  • RAM: You need 16GB for Low and Medium settings. High and Ultra settings jump to a strict 32GB requirement.
  • VRAM: Minimum is 8GB. High settings need 12GB, while Ultra requires 16GB of video memory.
  • OS: Windows 11 22H2 64-bit is required for all tiers. ReBAR is recommended.

The Storage Shock: 100GB Required

The most notable takeaway for PC gamers is the storage requirement. Regardless of whether you play on Low or Ultra settings, Halo: Campaign Evolved demands an SSD with 100GB of available space.

This is a significant footprint for a single-player campaign title. If your primary gaming drive is filling up, you will likely need to uninstall other titles to make room. The game does not support installation on mechanical hard drives; an SSD is mandatory for all configurations.

What This Means For You

If you are running a mid-range PC from the last five years, you can likely hit 1440p at Medium settings without upgrading your CPU or GPU. However, if you aim for 4K High or Ultra fidelity, the hardware demands increase sharply.

Pay close attention to the RAM requirement. If you currently have 16GB of system memory, you will be capped at Medium settings. To access High or Ultra presets, a hardware upgrade to 32GB is necessary. Additionally, ensure your BIOS supports ReBAR for optimal performance, as recommended by the developers.

The game supports modern performance technologies including Super Resolution (DLSS, FSR, XeSS) and Frame Generation. These tools will help maintain framerates on lower-end hardware, though it remains unclear if the listed specs assume these features are enabled or disabled.

Over to you: Will you upgrade your RAM to 32GB for this release, or stick with 16GB and cap out at Medium settings?
